Arsenal has enjoyed another promising season under manager Mikel Arteta, and they have a slim chance of winning the Premier League going into the last day of the season.
Regardless of what occurs, the hierarchy is poised to support the Spaniard with another spending spree. A new left-back could be one of the key objectives heading into next season.
Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Jakub Kiwior have all taken turns starting in the position, but none have been consistent enough over a long period of games.
Tomiyasu has undoubtedly been the best of the three, although the Japanese has had injury issues.
According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the north London giants are on the verge of signing another left-back, Ferdi Kadioglu, from Fenerbahce, this summer.
There have been no conversations with the Turkish club, but negotiations on personal conditions are already underway on the player’s end in preparation for a future transfer.
KADIOGLU COULD REPLACE ZINCHENKO AT ARSENAL
The Turkish star can play numerous positions. He began his career as an attacking midfielder and right winger before transitioning to right defender for the Istanbul giants.
Since then, the right-footed ace has made his mark as a left-back. In 40 appearances thus far this season, he has three goals and five assists.
Kadioglu has also performed admirably defensively, winning 5.9 duels and two tackles per game, as well as recovering 6.6 balls. He has completed over 87% of his passes.
In our opinion, Arteta would want someone who can be dependable on both ends of the pitch. Kadioglu might be considered a successor for Zinchenko, who was formerly his favourite.
The Ukrainian was an unquestioned starter for the whole of last season, but his dismal performance against Aston Villa has pushed him down to third-choice left-back behind Tomiyasu and Kiwior.
He is the most likely contender to be replaced if Kadioglu joins the Gunners.
