LeBron James, the standout player for the Los Angeles Lakers and a potential free agent should he decide to opt out, was there at the Cleveland Cavaliers’ playoff game against the Boston Celtics on Monday night. See the enthusiastic applause that the Cleveland audience gives James as he arrives in the city that he spent eleven years calling home. The NBA legend, accompanied by his agent Rich Paul and wife Savannah, came to the game and took a courtside seat.
This summer, James will have the option to opt out of his Lakers deal and become a free agent. James is probably going to do that and be open to possibilities come summertime. Two of the four NBA MVP awards that the 39-year-old has received came from Cleveland. Before departing Cleveland for Los Angeles two summers later, he played two stints there and helped the team win their lone NBA championship in 2016.
Without a question, James is the best player in Cleveland Cavaliers history. His accomplishments are self-evident. In terms of games played, minutes played, assists, steals, field goals, free throws, rebounds, and much more, he leads the team. He leaves a proud and revered legacy in Cleveland.
James played with Cleveland from 2003 to 2010, then left to play for the Miami Heat. From 2014 to 2018, he was back in Cleveland. Though all indications lean to James returning to the purple and gold, this summer could be historic because he could leave Los Angeles. LeBron may be using this, though, as a ploy to confuse people and leave them wondering what will happen to him next. His presence in Cleveland might have significance, or he might simply want everyone to be aware of his next move.
