William Saliba of Arsenal was charged with recognizing former Arsenal players from images during an NBC Sports Soccer challenge. He was able to identify players like Yaya Sanogo, Alex Song, and Andrey Arshavin, but when he saw a photo of Swiss defender Philippe Senderos, he made a funny error. Saliba incorrectly believed the photo to be of Everton manager Sean Dyche, 52, rather than 38-year-old Senderos, who played for Arsenal from 2003 to 2010. Saliba shrugged off his mistake after he was corrected.
Saliba has been crucial in stabilizing Arsenal’s defense since his return to the Emirates Stadium last season, despite the humorous mix-up. Arsenal’s chances of winning the title vanished even though he was out for the last 11 games of the previous campaign. Saliba has appeared in all 12 league games this season.
Saliba may need to review his knowledge of Arsenal’s past, though, as he had trouble recognizing other former players including Eduardo, Denilson, and Manuel Almunia. Saliba will concentrate on assisting Arsenal in beating Brentford in their forthcoming game on Saturday.
