While there are still a few weeks left and plenty of games to play, it is fair to say that Arsenal has had another fantastic season under Mikel Arteta, one that could yet conclude in Premier League success.

The Spaniard’s side entered the season with the pain of last year’s failure still in their minds, but rather than crumbling under pressure, they have demonstrated that they are capable of fighting Manchester City for domestic domination.

However, while practically every player in the squad has looked better than they did last year, Gabriel Martinelli has been uninspiring and, as a result, has battled to break into the starting XI recently.

However, according to recent sources, the North Londoners could soon sign the ideal player to resurrect the Brazilian’s fortunes on the left – and he has already turned down Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a recent Turkish rumor (via TEAMtalk), Arsenal are interested in bringing Tottenham target and Fenerbahçe fullback Ferdi Kadioglu to the Emirates this summer.

According to the source, while the Lilywhites want to sign the 24-year-old, his agent has already met with Arsenal representatives and agreed to a ‘contract in principle.’

To complete the transfer, Arsenal only need to agree on a fee with Sarı Kanaryalar, which could be as little as £26 million, according to the article.

This would still be a significant investment by the Gunners in a player from a league outside of Europe’s traditional top five, but given his ability to resuscitate Martinelli’s fortunes, it would most certainly be worthwhile.

Furthermore, Mattinson adds that the “electric” fullback can play on either side of the backline and invert in the final third, transforming into a “part of the attacking line” to expand the Gunners’ attacking options and add a new dimension to the team’s strategy.
