But even thоugh that team was successful and Hоward was a key player, general manager Rоb Pelinka chоse tо make changes in the оffseasоn. Since the Lakers haven’t been able tо repeat that level оf success, many have questiоned if Pelinka made the prоper decisiоn.

Howard expressed his belief on social media following the Lakers’ elimination in the first round of the playoffs this year, suggesting that the 2020 squad may have continued to win titles if they had remained a unit:

Howard made an intriguing suggestion, but it’s difficult to believe that roster would be useful in the modern game considering their age. While 3-point shooting and pace are still on the rise, the 2020 squad was a slower, more physically demanding squad.

However, since building new rosters around LeBron James and Anthony Davis, attempts to duplicate that championship team’s performance have failed. The Lakers that season went 52-19 and were the only team in the Western Conference with the #1 seed. With the James and Davis era coming to an end, it will be interesting to see if Los Angeles can build on this success the next season.

Since few people can claim to have won a championship, Howard included the option to start his Rolls Royce with his 2020 title ring.
