Chido Obi-Martin scored SEVEN goals against Norwich’s Under-18s, shattering Folarin Balogun’s record for the Arsenal academy. With 28 goals in total, the 16-year-old has shattered the record for most goals scored by the U18s in a single season.

The young Danish international’s goal-scoring exploits this season have earned him the title of Arsenal’s “next big thing.” Before raising his game, he scored 10 goals in a 14-3 victory over Liverpool’s U16s earlier in the season. He has also embarrassed the U18 Premier League with 28 goals, 25 of which have come in his last nine games. Balogun, who went to Monaco for a reported £35 million last summer, held the previous U18 record for Arsenal with 25 goals.

As a second-year scholar, he played in 19 matches during the 2018–19 season, when he set the record.

Compared to the USA international, Obi-Martin has played in four less games and is still on schoolboy terms under his contract.

For the sixth time this season, the teenager has astonishingly scored at least a hat-trιck for the U18s.

Obi-Martin, meanwhile, scored five goals earlier this month against West Ham and hammered in four against Crystal Palace and Fulham.

And he continued his scorching form against the Canaries by scoring five goals in the first half. He then added two more goals in the second half as Arsenal defeated them 9-0.

Once again, Arsenal supporters have not wasted any time waxing poetic about the center-forward. One X user remarked, “This Martin-Obi might just be the next big thing!”

Another posted: “Martin-Obi Is the future.”

A third quipped: “Can we start him up front for tomorrow?”

This Gooner added: “This boy need to be in first team squad next season.”

One then joked: “Who needs a striker when you have Martin.”

Meanwhile this fan simply stated: “The future is scary, but not for us.”
