Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has been ruled out of Thursday’s Premier League game against Brighton.
According to Pep Guardiola, the Norwegian striker was substituted against Real Madrid owing to weariness, and he missed the weekend’s FA Cup semi-final victory against Chelsea.
He, along with Phil Foden, skipped training on Tuesday, which is a huge concern for City. Fortunately, John Stones was able to train.
Pep Guardiola told reporters on Wednesday that Erling Haaland is not ready for tomorrow, but the other two are. [It’s] not a big deal for Haaland, but it’s not allowed in this game.”
City face two difficult road journeys in their bid to retake the Premier League lead from Arsenal, with Nottingham Forest following the Brighton encounter. Guardiola may so rotate some players.
Ederson should return between the posts, with Josko Gvardio, Mateo Kovacic, and Jeremy Doku also being considered for inclusion in the XI.
Predicted Manchester City XI: Ederson; Walker, Stones, Dias, Gvardiol; Rodri, Kovacic; Foden, De Bruyne, Doku, Alvarez
