LeBron James and D’Angelo Russell have addressed the Lakers’ 114-103 loss to the Denver Nuggets in Game 1 of their first-round series on Saturday.
James emphasized the importance of the Lakers paying closer attention to details.
“I’ve never played on a championship team that didn’t pay attention to detail,” he was quoted as saying. “There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it. “You have to.”
D’Angelo Russell, who finished with 13 points on 6-20 field goal shooting, also spoke with the media about his disappointing performance.
“I don’t recall the last time I got 20 shots,” Russell remarked. “I’m excited about getting 20 good looks, even if 5 or 6 were questionable. I know what I’m capable of.” Sometimes the ball just won’t fall.”
Darvin Ham, the Lakers’ coach, said he would not bench Russell for one poor shooting effort, adding that he had helped LA get this far and had just shot effectively against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Ham also mentioned that the Lakers had some more modifications to throw at Nikola Jokic in Game 2.
“SҺit, it’s tough,” Ham replied. “A championship team isn’t going to beаt itself.”
The Lakers and Nuggets will play Game 2 in Denver on Wednesday.
