BAD ENDING: Stephen Curry was unable to salvage the Warriors, and Klay Thompson had the worst performance of his career in the team’s most crucial game.

The Golden State Warriors played below their potential in their most crucial game of the season, officially bidding farewell to a spot in the 2024 NBA Playoffs.

0 points, 0-10 FG, 0-6 3PT, 0-0 FT in 32 minutes of play.

These stats will likely haunt Golden State Warriors fans for a while. They belong to Klay Thompson, who was given a starting lineup spot by coach Steve Kerr in the important Play-in Tournament game.

Contrary to his impressive performances in recent months, including four games with over 25 points in his last six outings, Thompson had the worst performance of his career in this do-or-die game for the Golden State Warriors.

Stephen Curry scored 22 points with 8-16 FG (3-7 3PT), along with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. However, he couldn’t do it alone as he faced tight defense and needed support from the perimeter shooters.Warriors vs. Kings score: Sacramento ends Golden State's season in Play-In Tournament - CBSSports.com

As for the Golden State Warriors, the season for Stephen Curry and his teammates ended on a bitter note. They officially finished in 10th place in the Western Conference standings.

This is the third time in the last five years that the Golden State Warriors have missed the playoffs. It is also the second time they have fallen short in the Play-in Tournament, with the first instance occurring in 2021 with consecutive losses to the Lakers and Grizzlies.

Aside from Stephen Curry’s 22 points, the Golden State Warriors received 16 points (5-8 FG) from Moses Moody, 16 points and 7 rebounds from Jonathan Kuminga, and 12 points and 6 assists from Draymond Green.

However, none of these contributions were enough on a day when the entire Warriors team struggled from beyond the arc with a 28% three-point shooting percentage (7-25 3PT), less than 40% FG shooting, and a total of 16 turnovers.

On the other side of the court, the Sacramento Kings, led by the outstanding performance of young talent Keegan Murray, completely dashed the hopes of the Warriors with his 32 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 steals. The Kings eliminate the Warriors from play-in tournament with 118-94 win | KLRT - FOX16.com

De’Aaron Fox followed closely with 24 points and 6 assists. The other three starters for the Kings all scored 15 points or more, led by Domantas Sabonis with 16 points, 17 rebounds, and 7 assists.

This collective effort led the Sacramento Kings to their most lopsided victory over the Golden State Warriors in the past 18 years (since February 2006).
