After defeating Werder Bremen 5-0 on Sunday, the German team made history as Xabi Alonso guided them to their first-ever Bundesliga championship. Granit Xhaka, a former Arsenal player, was a key member of the Leverkusen club that won the title. He scored a goal in the team’s victory over Ԁie Werderaner.

After the game, as Leverkusen celebrated their historic victory, full-back Jeremie Frimpong made fun of Xhaka’s previous employers by telling the midfield player on Instagram Live, “We won it, done it! Victor Boniface’s penalty kιck in the 25th minute got Leverkusen going in the first half, and Granit Xhaka’s spectacular left-footed drive from 25 meters out gave him his first goal (60th). Florian Wirtz’s incredible hat-trιck (68th, 83rd, 90th) sealed Bayer’s victory.


With five games left, Xabi Alonso’s team can no longer be caught atop the Bundesliga rankings after this 25th victory in 29 championship days. They are still on track to be undefeated at the end of the season. 

Bayern Munich, therefore, has to give back their champion title after dominating for eleven years. For the first time since Borussia Dortmund’s championship in 2012, the Bavarians have not taken home the “Meisterschale.”
