TOTALLY OVERWHELMED: Owen Hargreaves was startled by Odegaard’s sprint save

Former midfielder Owen Hargreaves told TNT Sports that he was shocked by Martin Odegaard’s quickness while backing up Leroy Sane.

Arsenal started the contest against Bayern Munich off nicely. Bukayo Saka broke the deadlock in the 12th minute with a stunning looping goal. However, two consecutive mistakes by the defense caused the home team to lose 1-2 in the first half.

Things could get even worse if Martin Odegaard fails to avert Leroy Sane’s clash. The Gray Tigers launched a swift counter-attack, and Sane escaped to face David Raya. However, Odegaard’s remarkable sprint caught up with the German player, slowing him down a beat. Ben White quickly withdrew to cover.

Owen Hargreaves was impressed by Odegaard’s performance and commended him on TNT Sports.

Hargreaves said: ” I don’t think he has that speed to get back (to defend). He just delayed Sane a little bit and that allowed White to get back in time to save the day.”

Arsenal’s efforts in the second half also brought them an equalizer thanks to Leandro Trossard. The 2-2 draw forced Arsenal to work harder in the match in Germany.
