At the Emirates Stadium, Mikel Arteta’s team easily defeated Liverpool to move up to the top spot until at least the following day. Arsenal defeated relegation-threatened Luton Town 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, vaulting them back to the top of the Premier League.
The hosts looked impressive in the first half despite making five changes from the team that drew 0-0 at Manchester City on Sunday, with Emile Smith Rowe shining in just his second league start since October. On minute twenty-three, Smith Rowe initiated the move that put the game ahead, snatching the ball in the Luton half and feeding Martin Odegaard. The captain of Arsenal then passed to Kai Havertz and finished beautifully on his first attempt, beating Thomas Kaminski.
Just before the half, the hosts increased their lead by two, and Smith Rowe was once more at the center of the action. Leandro Trossard played the 23-year-old in down the left, and as he reached the touchline, he threw in a cross that Daiki Hashioka diverted into his own net.
Thomas Partey (7/10):
There were some incredibly encouraging indicators in his first Premier League start since August. Exhausted as the match progressed, but that was to be anticipated. might be an important player in the last stretch.
Emile Smith Rowe (8/10):
Excellent show following a prolonged period without a start. His pressure resulted in the first goal, and he also assisted in setting up the second. Extremely brilliant at first, yet inevitably waning in the second half.
Martin Odegaard (8/10):
Outstanding as always, particularly in the first part. Excellent conclusion to end the impasse. He made a brilliant pass to set up Smith Rowe for a score.
David Raya (6/10)
Had nothing to do with saves, yet cleaned up as good as always.
Ben White (8/10)
generated a single move to assist in creating an opportunity for Havertz that made the Emirates gasp.
William Saliba (7/10)
as composed as usual. Generally calm, although he handled pressure effectively whenever it was applied.
Gabriel Magalhaes (7/10)
One more excellent performance. Had a brief miscommunication with Zinchenko, but other than that, it was another excellent night.
Oleksandr Zinchenko (7/10)
A few mishandled passes, but considering the kind of passes he tries, that will always be the case. In the second half, he appeared worn out and was replaced.
Leandro Trossard (6/10):
within and outside the game. One of Cruyff’s best moves was tricking Townsend.
Kai Havertz (7/10):
A lovely assist for the goal by Odegaard. This season, he has contributed to 12 goals in the league, which is more than he has ever managed in a Chelsea season. was somewhat difficult in the initial part. Careless decision to go diving after the break.
Reiss Nelson (6/10):
worked hard, but occasionally didn’t seem to be in sync with his teammates. Give Havertz one good opportunity. Although it appeared that he had scored the second, it was an own goal.
