Roy Keane has suggested that Manchester City have a player who appears to belong in League Two.
It is safe to argue that such a remark is bold, given that City has some of the top players in the industry who would fit in with most teams in the globe and are more than capable of playing in the Premier League.
Some of their superstars include Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, and John Stones, who would be the envy of most European teams and managers.
Roy Keane claims Erling Haaland is “almost like a League Two player” after Manchester City drew against Arsenal.
Even its young players, such as Rico Lewis, who impressed against the Gunners, and Oscar Bobb, have the potential to play for a variety of English top-flight clubs.
Previously, Graeme Souness said Manchester City loanee Kalvin Phillips may not even be good enough to play in the Premier League, as he continues to struggle at West Ham United.
However, following Manchester City and Arsenal’s 0-0 tie, Roy Keane compared Erling Haaland to a League Two player.
“His overall play is quite awful, and not just today. I believe he is laying off items, such as headers. “In front of goal, he’s the best in the world,” he told Sky Sports.
Keane went on to say, “But his overall performance for such a player is so terrible. Not only today, he needs to develop; he’s almost like a League Two player. That’s how I see him. His overall play needs to develop, and it will over the next few years.”
“There’s been this brilliant striker, fantastic but he has to improve his all-round game, has to.”
That’s far too harsh for Erling Haaland
Manchester City sensation Erling Haaland was far from his devastating best against Arsenal, but we believe Roy Keane is being far too harsh on him.
Haaland’s technical level has improved significantly this season, and while there is always room for growth, comparing his all-around game to that of a League Two player is a stretch to say the least.
Roy Keane himself stated that the Norwegian striker’s overall game will most likely improve in the coming years.
With that in mind, and given how Haaland has demonstrated that he is more than just a striker in multiple games for City, Keane’s claim is far too bold.
