Manchester United produced one of their best performances of 2023-24 yesterday, defeating Liverpool 4-3 at Old Trafford and advancing to the FA Cup semi-finals.

The Red Devils put up a strong performance, with the majority of their players stepping up against an in-form Liverpool team, and Kobbie Mainoo put in a standout performance in the middle of the park, outperforming the more experienced Reds midfielders.

Micah Richards, Gary Lineker, and Alan Shearer were all impressed with the Man United academy graduate’s performance and praised him on the newest episode of the Rest is Football podcast.

“How good was Kobbie Mainoo?” Richards inquired.

“He’s a very talented young man, isn’t he?” Lineker replied.

“Oh my world, he just gets better and better,” Richards said.

We studied him when he initially joined Manchester United and spoke about how composed he was on the field. But it’s not only that; he runs forward, has excellent feet, and appears to have a terrific passing range. I believe he still has some tactical work to do in terms of better protecting his back four, but what a performance it was. “He was truly amazing today.”

The Red Devils starlet won the midfield fight and contributed to Manchester United’s eventual victory.
