Manchester United are interested in signing Dinamo Zagreb attacker Bruno Petkovic this summer, according to Index HR Croatian journalist Stjepan Mati.
The Red Devils have been scouting the Croatian international in recent games, but they have yet to make an official move for him.
Petkovic has 16 goals and seven assists in all competitions this season, and his return appears to have piqued the interest of Manchester United.
The 29-year-old might be sold for less than €10 million this summer, given his contract ends next summer, which could be highly appealing to the Red Devils.
However, considering his age, Petkovic may only be a temporary solution, but he fits the profile Man United is looking for as a replacement for Rasmus Hojlund.
Dinamo turned down a €5 million offer from Trabzonspor last summer, but if the 6ft 4in performs well at the European Championships in June, he might demand more than €10 million from suitors.
Petkovic scored three goals in five international games last year and will be eager to impress in Euro 2024, so Manchester United may need to make a deal for him before the tournament.
Aside from his exceptional finishing skills, the Croatian is a powerful defender, an aerial threat, and a great dribbler who can continuously thread balls through to his teammates.
Given Man United’s need to balance the books and adhere to the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations, signing Petkovic might be beneficial, and it will be interesting to watch whether they make an offer for him in the summer.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to turn the Old Trafford club’s fortunes around, and a major squad overhaul is planned for the coming transfer windows. While fans will be hoping for big-money and marquee signings, some low-cost arrivals are also expected, and the Croatian could be one of them.
