Chelsea may lose out to Manchester United as they pursue French playmaker Michael Olise. According to Football.London (via The Sun), Fabrizio Romano reports that the 22-year-old would ‘100%’ leap at the chance to join United.
The Red Devils have long admired Olise. In 11 games this season, the French star has six goals and three assists. Arsenal are also rumored to be interested in the player, but it appears that Manchester United will have the final say.
Old Trafford has been in desperate need of a quality forward. Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho are talented wingers, but they are inconsistent. Amad Diallo is also reliable, but needs experience. Finally, Antony has primarily been a non-factor for United.
Rasmus Hojlund is the team’s sole consistent performer this season. Pairing him alongside Michael Olise next season would create a lethal Manchester United assault. The Frenchman is also a great playmaker.
If Mason Mount lives up to his promise, having him and Olise on the team will help to overcome the Red Devils’ creative challenges. However, who will play on the bench if the 22-year-old joins?
Will Erik ten Hag bench Garnacho or Rashford? Is the Dutchman even going to be present to make the decision? The Red Devils are about to face substantial changes, and there is a good probability that they will begin with their boss.
While things appear to be going well, a deal for Olise can only be finalized during the summer months. A lot might change by the time United is ready to approach.
