Michael Olise, a Manchester United target, is apparently interested in a move to Old Trafford, which could be a significant boost to INEOS’s roster rebuild under Erik ten Hag. Crystal Palace winger Olise is reportedly a priority target for the Red Devils’ new minority shareholders.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is poised to restructure United’s first-team squad after determining that it lacks the quality to meet his expectations. Exciting new recruits are likely to arrive during the summer transfer season.
Olise, who has had a difficult season owing to injury, is apparently being monitored by Old Trafford officials. Antony’s inconsistent play on the right wing since his £86 million move from Ajax in 2022 has caused INEOS to look for a replacement.
Last summer, Palace foiled Chelsea’s interest in Olise by convincing the France U21 international to sign a new deal, which increased his release clause to a reputed £60 million. United are reportedly leading the fight to get the 22-year-old away from Selhurst Park.
According to writer Fabrizio Romano, speaking to United Stand, Olise is ‘eager’ to join United and is thought to be a boyhood Red Devils supporter. However, the Old Trafford administration will face stiff competition for Olise’s signature in the summer.
Chelsea may pursue the former Reading star again, while numerous foreign teams are interested in a potential trade. Liverpool might join the picture if Mohamed Salah leaves for Saudi Arabia.
Clubs may be wary of signing Olise because of his previous injury history. He had hamstring surgery last summer, so he missed the first three months of the season.
Olise was replaced with a hamstring ailment in Palace’s 3-2 win over Sheffield United on January 30, before suffering a more serious injury 11 minutes later in a 4-1 loss to Brighton four days later.
He is projected to be out for several more weeks and has yet to play under new head coach Oliver Glasner.
Despite his paucity of playing time, Olise has six goals in just 11 appearances this season and is one of Palace’s top performers when healthy. He has also made three assists in that time. He is one of Europe’s most potent forwards, contributing one goal every 83 minutes.
