Erling Haaland has stated that it is a pleasure to play alongside Kevin De Bruyne following their devastating performance in Manchester City’s 6-2 win against Luton.
Pep Guardiola’s side advanced to the FA Cup quarter-finals with a comfortable victory at Kenilworth Road, with Haaland becoming the first player in 28 years to score five or more goals in an FA Cup tie.
De Bruyne was the Norwegian’s main supply line, contributing four assists against the Hatters, and Haaland was careful not to miss the 32-year-old’s role in his five-star performance.
“Of sure, [he] has enormous [impact]. “Look at what he is doing!” Haaland commented on De Bruyne.
“He’s doing what he excels at. It is a delight to play with him.
“It’s a good relationship. I believe we both understand what we want from one other.
“We gaze at each other frequently during the game. It clicks nicely. He’s a smart guy, and I enjoy playing with smart individuals.
“My fitness is improving, and I’m finally feeling like myself again. I’m feeling great, and it’s an incredible feeling.”
Haaland’s effort marked the second time he had scored five goals in a single game for the Citizens, having done it against RB Leipzig in the Champions League last season.
Since joining the Etihad from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, the 23-year-old has scored 79 goals in 83 games across all competitions.
City will learn their FA Cup quarter-final opponents when the draw takes place on Wednesday, February 28th at 19:00. The club’s next Premier League match is against Manchester United at the Etihad on Sunday.
