’16 Points in 6 minutes’: Klay Thompson’s wild first quarter has Warriors fans going crazy

On Sunday evening, shooting guard Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors played at home against Nikola Jokic and the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets, in what could be the first serious test of Golden State’s recent success. Head coach Steve Kerr recently demoted Thompson to the bench in favor of Warriors youngster Brandin Podziemski, and it appears that the decision has paid off, as Thompson has looked lot more like his former self in recent games.

Thompson continued his torrid shooting on Sunday against Denver, scoring 16 points in the first quarter alone.

.

Needless to say, the nice folks over on X, the social media network formerly known as Twitter, went crazy after the score explosion.

Some have stated that there is nothing quite like a Klay Thompson scoring outburst.

According to the team’s official account, Thompson only needed six minutes to attain the remarkable scoring total.

Others suggested Thompson may have used the decision to be relegated to the bench as incentive, which explains his recent excellent play.

In any case, Klay Thompson must continue to perform at this level if the Warriors are to compete with teams in the Western Conference’s upper echelon come playoff time, when Golden State will most likely need to win one or two Play-In games just to make the big dance.

Even so, when Thompson is on fire as he was on Sunday, the Warriors are nearly unstoppable.
