Manchester United are considering a summer clearout as Sir Jim Ratcliffe prepares to restructure the squad in preparation for Erik ten Hag.
Manchester United were always expected to sell this summer in order to purchase, and with that in mind, it appears like a major clearout is on the cards.
With a group full of players that aren’t good enough to assist Erik ten Hag go to the next level, those in charge of United’s sporting operations have a lot of work ahead of them.
According to reports, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos could sell up to 11 players this summer.
Here’s what we know so far, including some surprise findings.
Manchester United envisage a huge exodus this summer
According to ESPN sources, up to 11 first-team players could leave this summer.
This includes first-team regulars such Christian Eriksen, Raphael Varane, Casemiro, Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Victor Lindelof.
Out-of-contract Anthony Martial joins this list, as do current loan players Jadon Sancho, Donny van de Beek, Facundo Pellistri, and Brandon Williams.
This list includes some players who we predicted would leave in our seven players Dan Ashworth may look to cut.
Some unexpected inclusions, such as Scott McTominay.
While the majority of these players should be on the exit list, there are a few doubtful names who could still help United.
McTominay is one of United’s best scorers this season, with eight goals, trailing only Rasmus Hojlund.
So trading a homegrown player who clearly had a positive impact on Ten Hag’s club this season makes no sense. United are unlikely to actively pursue his exit, although they would be open to offers.
Concerning FFP, he is excellent to sell because his fee would be pure profit. Finally, if Sir Jim intends to sell him, we believe we can trust him based on his previous decisions.
