Manchester United’s personnel feel there is a young player at Old Trafford who has the potential to be as brilliant as Cristiano Ronaldo.
Rickie Haywood-Williams made the remark while speaking on The Footballer’s Football Podcast.
So, who do Manchester United officials believe may replicate Cristiano Ronaldo? Let us have a look.
Manchester United believe they have Cristiano Ronaldo 2.0
According to reports, Manchester United officials feel Alejandro Garnacho has the potential to follow in the footsteps of Portugal international.
Tom Cairney asked on The Footballer’s Football Podcast, “Who has the highest ceiling out of Garnacho, Hojlund, and Mainoo?”
Haywood-Williams responded: “People are saying that they believe Garnacho will be.”
Cairney then said, “What, like the next Cristiano?”
Haywood-Williams continued, “That’s what they’ve been saying and what I’ve been hearing. We can’t foresee these things, but from what I’ve heard at Old Trafford, he has the potential to reach that level.”
Wow, that’s quite the statement.
This season, Garnacho has seven goals and three assists in 33 games across all competitions, and Tim Sherwood has already compared him to Ronaldo.
Alejandro Garnacho has a long ways to go.Of course, Garnacho has a fantastic talent, and it’s easy to forget that the Argentine is only 19.
However, Harwood-Williams’ views are unlikely to help the South American achieve the level of Ronaldo, who was only 21 years old when he won the first of his five Ballon d’Ors.
Manchester United must endeavor to avoid putting further weight on Garnacho’s youthful shoulders.
The absence of a generational coach like Sir Alex Ferguson must also be considered; the Scot definitely played a key influence in Ronaldo’s rise to superstardom.
Garnacho is an undeniable talent, but he still has a long way to go before he can match the incredible career of Al-Nassr’s No.7.
