Brandin Podziemski’s progress has been one of the most surprising aspects of the Warriors’ 2023-24 NBA season, and the rookie is eager to praise Draymond Green and Steph Curry for his on-court success.
Speaking to media during the NBA Rising Stars Game, Podziemski praised both the organization and the two franchise stalwarts, describing them as the “best teammates” he has ever had. When asked about Curry’s influence on his development this season, the first-year player stated that the two-time NBA MVP’s on- and off-court behavior has been eye-opening.
“He’s been a tremendous vet to me, and he’s been there for me both on and off the court. He is a nice spouse, parent, businessman, and teammate who always treats others with kindness. “It’s something you look up to,” Podziemski explained.
The rising star also discussed Green’s influence on him, stating that the two players have many parallels in terms of competitiveness and will to win. When asked if he still enjoys playing with Green despite his on-court antics, Podziemski responded that it comes with the territory.
“Of course, we just live with that,” Podziemski told reporters. “We know that whatever he does on the court is motivated by a good heart and a desire to win. That’s where me and him have some commonalities; we’ll do whatever it takes to win.”
Podziemski, who was selected in the first round of the 2023 NBA Draft, has established himself as a key member of Golden State’s rotation, becoming a force on both offense and defense, as he now leads the league with 27 charges drawn.
The Warriors have a quality collection of young players, including Trayce Jackson-Davis, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, and Podziemski, who have been playing significant minutes for the club as they begin their long playoff run.
