LeBron James Rocks “Nike LeBron 21 DT Max ’96” Sneakers in Record-Breаking 21st NBA All-Star Game Appea. LeBron James made history on Sunday night as he stepped onto the court for his 21st NBA All-Star Game, wearing a pair of special-edition Nike LeBron 21 sneakers inspired by one of Deion Sanders’ iconic shoes from the ’90s.
The Nike LeBron 21 “DT Max ’96” sneakers pay homage to the Air DT Max ’96, also known as the Air Diamond Turf 3, featuring the same clаw mark striping and a white and black color scheme with gold accents. Interestingly, the colorway matches the colors of the Colorado Buffalos, the team for which Sanders currently serves as the head football coach.
Nike recently reissued Sanders’ third signature sneaker, but without his logo, as he was not affiliated with the brand for a number of years until rejoining in 2024. Sanders had previously signed with Under Armour and expressed that he would never return to Nike.
In addition to LeBron’s special-edition sneakers, Nike has also created a trio of contemporary basketball shoes inspired by retro models for this year’s NBA All-Star Game. The GT Jump 2 draws inspiration from the Total Foamposite Max, the GT Cut 3 from the Zoom Flight 5, and the GT Hustle 2 from the Air More Uptempo.\
LeBron James’ All-Star appearance marks his 21st overall and consecutive, setting new records in both categories. The previous record for both was held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with 19 appearances.
As of now, it is uncertain if the Nike LeBron 21 “DT Max ’96” sneakers will be released to the public or remain exclusive to players. Further information will be updated if available, and Footwear News has reached out to Nike for comment.
