City defeated the Bees 3-1 at the Gtech Community Stadium and are currently only two points behind Liverpool in the Premier League standings.

The incredible Phil Foden scored a flawless hat-trick, his second for the club.

The midfielder maintained his impressive form while playing in a central spot, with Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland aiding him.

Lescott commended Dias for a specific moment after the game, despite Foden’s headline-making performance.

Joleon Lescott praised Ruben Dias after his superb block for Manchester City against Brentford.

Dias returned to the starting lineup against Brentford after missing the previous match against Burnley.

The Portugal international hasn’t been at his imperious best this season, but he was solid against Brentford.

In the second half, he also made a key block.

Brentford came forward at the hour mark, with Sergio Reguilon sending a cross to the back post.

Ivan Toney got underneath it and volleyed a cross. The ball rebounded to an onrushing Oliver Norgaard, who shot first, but Dias denied him.

Ederson might have saved the ball, but Dias would have no idea. His teammates commended him, and Lescott complimented him after the game on his love of defending.

He stated on City’s Matchday Live show: “He likes it! Since he arrived, we’ve seen him celebrate tackles and blocks. The skill of defense is undoubtedly in his blood.

“He would have appreciated it. I’m frustrated that they haven’t kept a clean sheet. Overall, I believe he can be pleased with his performance.

Dias’ block came with City leading 2-1. To have been pegged back at that point would have made life difficult for City in the game’s closing moments.

Dias’ love for defense is incredible. We understand that City is all about playing nice football, building from the back, and being technical.

But it always pays to have a defender who actually enjoys the sport of defending, and Dias is such a warrior.

He is constantly putting his body on the line and has rescued City numerous times since his arrival at the club.

It must be quite inspirational for the other players to witness a teammate do this.
