Manchester United is finding a way to score goals on a regular basis again, and it could be down to a single important switch.
If there was one turning point in Manchester United’s season, it was their Boxing Day victory over Aston Villa.
United were 2-0 behind at halftime, and few gave the team any hope of a comeback. Prior to this, United had failed to score in four straight games against Bournemouth, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and West Ham.
Then Alejandro Garnacho switched to the right flank, sparking a 3-2 comeback victory. He hasn’t looked back.
Alejandro Garnacho appears to be most comfortable on the right wing
Manchester United has gone on a scoring spree following their 3-2 win over Aston Villa. More precisely, Garnacho has moved to the right side.
Manchester United has scored nine goals in their last three Premier League games, including two against Tottenham, four against Wolves, and three against West Ham.
With six goals against Newport and Wigan, Manchester United is rekindling its desire to score goals.
Garnacho has been an important part of this, with his position on the right working for the benefit of the club.
Why Alejandro Garnacho is ‘better on the right’
Alejandro Garnacho’s ‘better on the right’ is due in part to his ability to start alongside Marcus Rashford.
In comparison to earlier in the season, when they were battling for a spot on the left, the pace offered by both players provides United with a genuine direct, balanced threat.
One of the best half of football United has played this season was the first 40 minutes away to Copenhagen, prior to Rashford’s red card.
In the game, Garnacho was on the left and Rashford was on the right. It’s as simple as getting the two speedy guys on the field surrounding Rasmus Hojlund.
United are overly predictable with Antony on the right. It is up to the Brazilian to adapt his strategy or play from the left with his natural foot.
Garnacho is currently playing his finest role, and United’s front three is starting to gel.
Alejandro Garnacho was commended for his performances.Garnacho’s significance was highlighted in an ESPN FC feature, with former Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs explaining how important he has been to the team’s improved play.
He stated, “The shackles are off, they are starting to play with a little more freedom, and they are working for each other.” They are chasing the ball back in packs when they give it away, and they are beginning to resemble more of a team.
“I’m going to give most of the credit to Garnacho and Kobbie [Mainoo]. Kobbie has added steadiness to the midfield, and Garnacho is doing exactly what I expected. “Those kids are currently reviving that United team.”
