‘I am glad to be here’ – Greenwood provides ‘Huge Reasons’ for immediate effect at Getafe after claiming POTM

At the start of the season, Manchester United chose to loan out Mason Greenwood to La Liga club Getafe.

The deal was completed on deadline day, and it appears that Greenwood will never play for the Reds again, despite Richard Arnold’s initial plans to reintegrate the England international into the squad following the Crown Prosecution Service’s decision to drop all charges of abuse levelled against him.

Mason Greenwood credits his outstanding start to his Getafe career to his teammates and supporters.

Greenwood, 22, has scored three goals and four assists in 15 games since moving to Spain, prompting interest from a number of bigger clubs ahead of next season.

Getafe have stated that they will try to keep the forward, although it is unclear whether they will be able to compete for his signature this summer.

Furthermore, Greenwood was selected Player of the Month for December, and he gave a rare interview after accepting the accolade.

Greenwood discusses life in Spain and how Getafe fans have helped him adjust to a new environment with his small family. He told Getafe’s official YouTube channel: “Everything is fantastic; I adapted quickly. My teammates took me under their care, and I’ve been delighted ever since I arrived here, training and playing games.

“My fans mean a lot to me. The finest experience so far was when I scored my first goal here at the stadium, which meant a lot to me, and I could hear the crowd fairly well.

“Also we had the training day and a lot of fans came out and watched so we always appreciate the fans, they’re like an extra man out there on the pitch when they’re out there supporting us.”

Though with Sir Jim Ratcliffe set to arrive at Old Trafford imminently, it remains to be seen whether Greenwood is even sold at all when the season concludes. The 72-year-old has acquired a 25 per cent stake in his boyhood club but the Premier League has not ratified the investment yet, meaning that all key decisions are being put on pause until that point.
