Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City has confessed that one of his friends helped him out by dipping into his model wife’s direct messages on his behalf.
The 30-year-old Belgian midfielder has had remarkable success at City since his spectacular £55 million transfer from Wolfsburg in 2015.
De Bruyne has now become a vital component of City’s success, winning three Premier League crowns, five League Cups, and an FA Cup with the team.
The City playmaker has also had individual success, winning the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award twice and being voted Premier League Player of the Season for the 2019-20 season.
Despite his on-field success, De Bruyne has attributed it entirely to his wife, Michele De Bruyne.
De Bruyne revealed that his romantic relationship with the attractive 27-year-old model began during his loan stay at Werder Bremen.
Michele “favourited” one of his tweets, according to the former Wolfsburg player, and “my friend noticed it.”
De Bruyne wrote in The Players’ Tribune, “She helped me grow in ways that I’ve probably never acknowledged out loud—even to her.
“This is such an embarrassing story that I am hesitant to share it! But, since I promised you honesty, I suppose I had to. In any case, it’s quite funny.
“It began with a tweet. I barely had a few thousand followers at the time, as I was still on loan at Werder Bremen. So I tweeted something about a match or whatnot, and this lovely girl liked it.
“I was unmarried at the time, and my friend observed this. So he said, “Doesn’t she look like a nice girl?” “You should send her a message.”
“I literally told him, ‘No, no, no.'” Come on. People do not like me. They don’t understand me. She will not answer.
“So he took my phone and began tapping out a message. He showed me the phone and asked, ‘Come on, may I push send?’
“Luckily, he sent the message for me, and she responded. We spent several months getting to know each other over messaging. It’s much easier for me to get to know someone, therefore I was fine after that.
“It was truly a lovely thing. She transformed my life in so many ways. “I honestly don’t know what I’d do without her.”
De Bruyne and Michele apparently began dating in 2014 and had their first kid, Mason Milian De Bruyne, in 2016.
Their second son, Rome De Bruyne, was born in 2018, and their first daughter, Suri De Bruyne, was born in 2020.
De Bruyne, who married Michele in 2017 in Italy, stated that his wife “sacrificed everything” to enable him pursue his ambition.
“She sacrificed everything to move away with me when she was 19 years old, to help me follow my dream,” he said.
“We have gone on this trip together. In some ways, she inspires me. She helped me come out of my shell around people a lot, and the way she handled things is pretty impressive.”
