Manchester United are in a difficult situation going into the summer. Obviously, money will have to be spent by the Old Trafford side; however, with FFP limitations tighter than ever, Erik ten Hag must spend his money wisely.
Several names have already been connected with a prospective Reds swap, with many more to come.
We have the latest from Football Insider, who has linked the 20-time Premier League champions with a bid to sign Gleison Bremer.
According to the allegation, United are ‘working on a deal’ to sign the 26-year-old defender, yet here’s where it gets intriguing, it might clear the way for a Casemiro move.
Bremer would cost roughly £60 million to sign this summer, with United already interested in bringing in the Brazilian player.
However, well placed insiders have told FI that United will have to sell players before they can buy, with Casemiro considered as someone who may be sacrificed. Due to injuries, the ex-Real Madrid player has only made 13 appearances this season.
Bremer, on the other hand, has started all 22 of their league games this campaign, hailed as a ‘dream signing’ by United given his calibre, pedigree and experience.
There is no doubt that Ten Hag is still looking for the appropriate spouse for Lisandro Martinez. Perhaps Bremer is that man, albeit that’s an incredible lot of money to spend, particularly when funding could be short.
It’s undoubtedly a move I would make, though I’d also like to see either Harry Maguire or Victor Lindelof depart, in order to open up the gaps in the centre-back position.
