The NBA has announced the 2024 All-Star Game starters, and Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry is not among them. The Western Conference’s two backcourt starters are Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks and Shai Gilgeous-Alexnader of the Oklahoma City Thunder, who will push Curry to the bench if he is selected as a reserve.
Curry was asked about this after Thursday night’s loss to the Sacramento Kings. “You got two guys that are playing amazing this year, Luka and Shai,” Curry remarked. “I’ve been around doing this for a very long time and the fact that it’s a talking point I’m not [starting] after nine healthy years – those two guys are playing amazing and they deserve it.”
Curry continued, “Hopefully, I’ll be there [in Indiana] in whatever capacity. But, yes, continuing at this point is usually difficult. You never take for granted how difficult it is to be honored in that way each year.”
While Curry was not picked a starter, he will almost probably be named a reserve, marking his tenth All-Star selection in his remarkable NBA career. As Curry said, both Doncic and Gilgeous-Alexnader are deserving starters, as the two young guards have been utterly dominant for their clubs this season.
