Liverpool have been pursuing Teun Koopmeiners for over a year, and recent reports suggest that they are prepared to make a bid to secure his signature. In January 2023, Liverpool initiated talks with Atalanta, the Italian club where Koopmeiners currently plays, to express their interest in the Dutch international. Even during the previous summer, there were indications that Liverpool made efforts to entice Koopmeiners to bolster their midfield. However, Liverpool ended up signing other players such as Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Endo, and Gravenberch to strengthen their midfield options.

According to an exclusive report from Tutto Atalanta, Liverpool is now ready to make a significant bid to finally acquire Koopmeiners. The club believes that the versatile 25-year-old player possesses the physical and technical qualities necessary to enhance the team. While Koopmeiners primarily operates as a defensive midfielder, he is also capable of playing effectively in the No. 8 and No. 10 positions.

In the previous season, Koopmeiners made a significant impact in Serie A, directly contributing to 14 goals (10 goals and 4 assists) despite predominantly featuring as a defensive midfielder. This season, Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini has deployed the Dutch star in an attacking midfield role, and Koopmeiners has already scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists in 18 league starts.

Earlier last week, La Gazzetta Dello Sport reported that Juventus is also interested in signing Koopmeiners and is considering a €40 million move.
