Manchester United and Liverpool are apparently interested in a player whom Fabrizio Romano has hailed as “one of the best talents in the world”.
Over the last few days, the Red Devils are alleged to have joined Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in their pursuit of Lille defender Leny Yoro.
This week, journalist Fabrice Hawkins revealed that Manchester United has made an official bid for the 18-year-old talent.
In December, Le10 Sport said that Liverpool is ‘drooling’ over the idea of signing Yoro and is ‘determined to play a part’ in his destiny.
In addition to the Red Devils and the Reds, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested in the youthful talent.
Romano has now offered an update on Yoro’s situation with his high-profile suitors on CaughtOffside.
Leny Yoro is ‘a name to watch for the summer’ for Manchester United and Liverpool.
According to a transfer insider, Lille expects a “big fight” for the defender’s signature this summer.
And, with Yoro’s contract expiring in the summer of 2025, Lille will have one last chance to charge a high fee for the teenager.
“Leny Yoro could be a name to watch for the summer,” stated Romano.
“The talented young Lille centre-back is now represented by Jorge Mendes, one of the world’s best agents.”
“And Yoro is one of the top talents in the world; he is an excellent center-back.
“For Lille, the plan is to hold the player until the conclusion of the season since they believe there will be a fierce competition among major clubs to sign Yoro in the summer.
“Real Madrid has been to observe Yoro several times; they really like him, so let’s see whether they enter the race this summer.
“They are definitely scouting the player, as well as the new people in charge at Manchester United, with INEOS having a great relationship with Jorge Mendes.”
“PSG also knows Yoro very well because he plays in Ligue 1; they’ve been following him since last summer, so they’re there as well.
“It could be a big fight for Yoro, that’s what’s expected, and Lille want crazy money, but his contract expires in 2025 so it looks like one to watch.”
Lille is reportedly aiming for €80-90 million (£69-78 million) this month or €50-60 million (£43-52 million) in the summer.
