Sofyan Amrabat, a Manchester United midfielder, performed admirably for Morocco in the African Cup of Nations, defeating Tanzania 3-0.
The World Cup semifinalists began their AFCON campaign against the East African team. Roman Saiss, Azzedine Ounahi, and Youssef En-Nesyri all scored to give them an easy win.
Amrabat also did an excellent job with the Atlas Lions in the park’s center. The 27-year-old made 60 passes at the Stade de San Pedro with a 95% accuracy rate.
The Fiorentina loanee also completed all six of his long balls (6/6), winning five duels and three tackles. Amrabat was dispossessed only three times.
Amrabat has yet to match Morocco’s exploits at Manchester United.
Amrabat made a big impression at the previous World Cup. He was exceptional in his relentless work ethic and won the bulk of his challenges.
He and Ounahi shined in the heart of Morocco’s midfield, helping the country become the first African to reach the World Cup final four.
Amrabat went on to excel for Fiorentina, who advanced to the Coppa Italia finals and finished second in the Conference League competition.
Following his loan move to United last summer, many supporters expected him to compete with Casemiro for the number six spot.
However, the €28 million-rated ace has yet to adjust to the intensity of the Premier League, and he has spent the last few months on the bench.
With the emergence of Kobbie Mainoo, Amrabat is unlikely to be signed permanently when his loan contract expires in June.
