On Monday evening, Draymond Green returned to the Golden State Warriors after serving a suspension for a cheap shot at Phoenix Suns big man Jusuf Nurkic. Despite Green’s relatively strong performance in his return to the floor, the Warriors were unable to capitalize on a road game against an undermanned Memphis Grizzlies team, ultimately losing 116-107.
Rookie GG Jackson II, the youngest player in the NBA at 19 years old, stood out for the Grizzlies, scoring 23 points and grabbing six rebounds in the win.
Now, Draymond Green is giving insight on why the game against the Warriors was particularly personal for GG Jackson, possibly explaining his remarkable performance.
“[GG Jackson] waited for Steph at the half-court line. He stated, “Man, I got uninvited from your camp.” Steph said, ‘I remember that.’ “I discovered that it was very personal for GG,” Green told The Volume Sports on X, the network that was previously known as Twitter.
Whatever the driving motive was, the Warriors had a win in mind when they spotted the Grizzlies, who were without Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Brandon Clarke, Steven Adams, and others, on their schedule. Instead, the Warriors fell four games below.500 to 18-22, knocking them out of the Western Conference playoff picture entirely.
Next, Golden State will look to get back on track with a road game against the Utah Jazz on January 17. The game is scheduled to start at 9:00 p.m. ET.
