Jadon Sancho is overjoyed to be back at Borussia Dortmund, which he claims feels like ‘home’ after joining on loan from Manchester United.
Following his public spat with United manager Erik ten Hag, the 23-year-old has rejoined the German giants on a six-month loan agreement.
When he joined United for £73 million in the summer of 2021, the England international was regarded as one of the top forwards in the world.
However, his stint at Old Trafford was marred by inconsistency in form and fitness, resulting in only 12 goals and six assists in 82 appearances.
‘It’s very good to be back,’ Sancho stated to Dortmund’s media team of his return to the Bundesliga.
‘Dortmund feels like a second home to me. This is where my professional football career began. That was always my ambition. I’m delighted to be back here.
‘Of course [I’m ready to leave]. I’m eager to get started! I believe my team members will make it simple for me to get started here.
‘I still recognize some of the players. And they’ll feel the same way I do. They, too, are eager to get started.
‘[The idea] is to start winning games, scoring goals, and setting up goals. I can hardly stand it.’
When asked why he wanted to return to Dortmund, Sancho explained: ‘It’s because of how I’ve been treated by the supporters here. Then there were conversations with Edin Terzic, Sebastian Kehl, Hans-Joachim Watzke, Marco Reus, and others. All of this has made it feel like the proper decision.’
