Erling Haaland, a Premier League record breaker, has scored for pleasure this season, owing in part to a diet that includes heart, liver, and dad’s lasagna.
Since moving to England in the summer, the 22-year-old has given Premier League defenders nightmares, and he has already surpassed Alan Shearer and Andy Cole’s 34-goal haul in a single season.
Earlier this season, the Norwegian international revealed his Hannibal Lecter-style regimen in a documentary called ‘Haaland: The Big Decision,’ which followed him from Dortmund to Manchester.
“You [other people] don’t eat this, but I’m concerned with taking care of my body,” Haaland explained as he showed the camera large slices of heart and liver from his butcher.
“I believe the most important thing is to eat as much local food as possible.”
“Some think meat is unhealthy for you, but which meat? What about the meat at McDonald’s?
“Or the local cow over there eating grass?” “I eat the liver and the heart.”
He also claimed to only consume water that had passed through a complex filter system.
“The first thing I do in the morning is get some sunlight in my eyes because it helps with my circadian rhythm.”
“I’ve also begun to filter my water a little.” I believe it will be beneficial to my physique.”
Haaland, who claims to consume 6,000 calories per day, reportedly enjoys ice baths and blue-light-filtering glasses to improve his sleep.
If the striker eats lasagne cooked by his father, Alfie-Inge, City boss Pep Guardiola wants the former defender back at the club.
“We can make an offer so Erling’s father comes to cook for us,” he said with a laugh. “If this is Erling’s secret goal, I’m going to persuade [chairman] Khaldoon [Al Mubarak] to bring him here!”
“But I think there’s not only one secret.”
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, known for his legendary ‘cheat days’ when not filling himself with food after a workout, was taken aback.
When asked about his meals, he told talkSPORT, “I do love my food… and if that’s working for him!”
“He eats hearts and liver and a lasagne before every game, and he’s in amazing shape?”
Haaland reportedly mentioned milk as one of his secrets in an April tweet about his’magic potion.’
After scoring his 35th league goal, bringing his season total to 51, he could be aiming for Dixie Dean’s 1928 record of 63.
The striker, however, argues that it is the trophies that matter, not the records.
“I’ll sleep on this game and wake up tomorrow thinking about getting three points here against Leeds.”
