Man United’s change of ownership transaction is expected to be completed this week, when the final candidate, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, meets with the Glazer family on Thursday, October 19. If the transaction is completed, the British billionaire promises to increase the capacity of Old Trafford from 75,000 to 90,000 seats.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to overhaul the club’s substructure in exchange for more involvement in the red team’s expertise. Other Man United roles, according to British news sources, can be replaced in addition to coach Erik ten Hag’s post.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s first objective was Paul Mitchell. According to The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell, Sir Jim Ratcliffe values Paul Mitchell and plans to promote him to the role of Man United’s Sports Director (Sports Director). The billionaire, who was born in 1952, will almost certainly appoint Mitchell shortly after acquiring shares in Man United.
Paul Mitchell is a well-known name among European scouts. He is the one that unearths talents such as Dele Alli. Mitchell brought in players who ultimately became mainstays at both Southampton and Tottenham, such as Maya Yoshida and Son Heung-Min, while working at both clubs.
In reality, when coach Rangnick was appointed at the end of 2021, Man United hoped to bring back Paul Mitchell. When Mitchell was Technical Director of Red Bull Group’s football teams, notably RB Leipzig, where Rangnick worked, the two had a good relationship. However, for a variety of reasons, this transaction was not a success.
Paul Mitchell is currently… out of work. Because, despite parting ties with AS Monaco in March after three years of collaboration, Paul Mitchell has yet to accept a new position. He turned down offers from Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.
