Jayson Tatum Apologizes to Janet Jackson, Referring to Her as a ‘Legend’, for Postponed Concert: ‘We Were Supposed to Close It Out’
After the Boston Celtics advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals, Jayson Tatum took a moment to apologize to Janet Jackson, the legendary singer. Speaking to NBA on TNT after the win, Tatum said, “I want to send an apology to the legend Janet Jackson. We were supposed to close it out in Boston. She had to postpone her show. I hope she sees this. I apologize for that.”
The mix-up оccurred when the Atlanta Hawks, the seventh seed, fоrced a Game 6 in Bоstоn against Tatum’s secоnd-seeded Celtics. This unexpecteԀ оutcоme meant that anоther game had tо be played at the State Farm Arena, causing Janet Jacksоn’s scheduled cоncert tо be rescheduled.
Live Nation, the event organizer, explained that the concert had to be moved due to the Hawks’ playoff game. They assured ticket holders that the original tickets would be honored on the rescheduled date and offered refunds to those unable to attend.
Both Tatum and Hawks star Trae Young expressed their apologies to Janet Jackson, with Young adding a playful “Sorry not sorry to this LEGEND..Hope she can be at the game now” in a tweet.
The Celtics ultimately defeated the Hawks 128-120 in Game 6, with Tatum contributing 30 points and Jaylen Brown scoring 32. The Celtics will now face the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round as they aim to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.
