The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) recently revealed the Top 10 best male players in 2023 in the Portuguese daily A Bola. Ronaldo does not appear on this list, and Messi is only placed third. Erling Haaland leads the way, with Kylian Mbappe in second place.
This is also one of the few rankings in 2023 in which Messi dips and does not hold the top spot. Previously, Messi dominated a slew of statistics, including the Golden Ball in 2023. Ronaldo had a frenzied interaction below this post.
Ronaldo specifically put three emojis crying with laughter and one emoji covering his face with his hands. After a few hours, 150,000 people agreed with Ronaldo’s remark. Then there were 15 thousand comments, mostly squabbles between Ronaldo and Messi followers. According to El Futbolero, Ronaldo’s post was intended to be “sarcasm that Messi only finished third in the election.”
After 58 games in 2023, Ronaldo had 53 goals and 15 assists. CR7’s performance, however, is underappreciated because he is playing in Saudi Arabia.
Messi, on the other hand, has 28 goals and 12 assists in 44 years in 2023. Messi played for PSG in the first half of the season, and the squad successfully defended the Ligue 1 title. Messi joined Inter Miami of America in the summer and helped the club win the League Cup for the first time. Previously, Messi made a splash by winning the World Cup in December 2022.
Ronaldo also made a commotion in the online community in October when he commented with four smiling faces on a sarcastic post claiming Messi did not deserve to win the 8th Golden Ball.
