Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has an impressive collection of tattoos.
His tattoos celebrate his mother, son, and his journey to the NBA. The inspiration for his tattoos came from his father, Justin Tatum, who was a former NCAA basketball star. Jayson admired his father’s tattoos and wаnted to have his own.
Jayson Tatum started getting tattoos before his rookie season in 2017. He initially tattooed his wrists, which he admitted were painful. At that time, he swore he would never get another tattoo. However, after becoming a father, he decided to get a tattoo to represent his son. He also got a tattoo of his mother.
Over the years, Tatum has continued to add to his tattoo collection. He is a devout Christian, and his shoulders bear the tattoos “God’s Will” and “Proverbs 3:5-6.” He also has tattoos of his high school and college jerseys on his left thigh, as well as two snakes resembling the number 24 as a tribute to Kobe Bryant.
In 2022, Tatum had a massive collage of images representing his childhood home in St. Louis tattooed on the left side of his back. He also has a tattoo on his right leg that features a mushroom cloud and the words “St. Louis – ’til the world blows,” showing his love for his hometown.
On his right leg, opposite the St. Louis tattoo, is a photo of Tatum holding his son, Jayson Jr., with the message “like father, like son.” He also has the number “98” tattooed on his right knee, representing the year of his birth, and “Big Deuce” on his hand, which is a nickname for his son.
Tatum continues to expand his tattoo collection, although he admits that they are always painful.
