In just 16 games, the 27-year-old striker has scored 19 goals in all competitions. The most recent was a 3-0 victory over Augsburg last night.

His form and availability have piqued the curiosity of Manchester United, which is in desperate need of strikers.

Manchester United may also be mending fences by agreeing to loan Donny van de Beek to Frankfurt.

Van van Beek had his medical with the German club yesterday, and the agreement contains terms for the move to become permanent at the end of the season.
