The Connecticut Sun are ecstatic about the opportunity to play their first WNBA regular season game in Boston at the TD Garden. People in the Boston area and the rest of New England have a long history of being sports fans and have a deep love for the game, according to Suns general manager Darius Taylor.
The Sun’s only home game in Connecticut was in Hartford during their inaugural campaign there in 2003. Their first game away from Connecticut will be this one.
Tiffany Hayes, a former standout player for UConn, announced her departure from the WNBA on her show.
Her WNBA career spanned ten years before she signed with the Sun. She was an Atlanta Dream player prior to that.
Hayes led the Huskies with an average of 12.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game at the conclusion of the regular season. From August 1st to September 8th, 2023, Hayes scored 10 points or more in 14 straight games, accounting for 28% of the 40 games he participated in throughout the regular season. She scored 30 points in the second game of the WNBA semifinals versus New York on September 26, which also happened to be her highest point total in a playoff game.
The head coach of the Suns, Stephanie White, expressed gratitude to her squad for having Tip in the lineup this year. “She is the best worker and competitor there is.” She never lets her guard down and plays both sides of the game. She is feisty and filled with passion. I said as much all season long.
It’s one of the rare occasions in league history where a player has defeated an opponent by going backward. In other words, she is special. White expressed to Tip his admiration for her excellent work and his best wishes for her going forward in all of her endeavours.
Hayes was selected for the WNBA All-Rookie team in 2012. She was selected to the All-WNBA first team, the WNBA All-Star team, and the WNBA All-Defensive second team in 2018.
Hayes is currently playing for the Shanghai Swordfish in the WBCA in China, therefore he is no longer at home. Each game, she makes 24.6% of her shots, blocks 8.5%, and steals 3.0%.
