Joel Embiid, the Philadelphia 76ers star, tied the knot with his wife Anne de Paula in a beautiful wedding ceremony in Southhampton. The Sports Illustrated model shared photos from the event on her Instagram account, expressing their everlasting love and how they were meant for each other.
Their three-year-old son, Arthur, was present at the wedding, dressed in a matching white tuxedo blazer with a black bowtie. Embiid and de Paula exchanged vows in a church ceremony and posed for photos on Cryder Beach. The couple looked stunning, with de Paula wearing a long-sleeved lace bridal gown.
The wedding was attended by Michael Rubin, a close friend of Embiid and the current CEO of Fanatics, who posted a snapshot of the newlyweds on his Instagram Story, congratulating them and expressing his adoration.
The Philadelphia 76ers’ official Twitter account also joined in the celebration, sharing a bridal photo of the couple and congratulating “Arthur’s parents.”
Embiid and de Paula first met in 2018 through a mutual acquaintance at a dinner in New York City. The wedding took place on Long Island amidst rumors of Embiid potentially joining the New York Knicks. ESPN’s Zach Lowe and Dave McMenamin hinted at this possibility on Lowe’s podcast, “The Lowe Post,” noting the connection between Knicks president Leon Rose and Embiid.
Although there has been speculation, Embiid has a strong relationship with his former agent, Leon Rose, who is now with the Knicks. Keith Pompey, an insider for the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Sixers, discussed on SiriusXM NBA Radio the Knicks’ desire to have Embiid join their team, as he has owned a home in New York for some time.
