Jesse Lingard has provided an update on his fitness as he continues to look for a new club.
The 30-year-old is presently a free agent after a dismal season in which he failed to score or assist in 17 Premier League outings for Nottingham Forest.
Lingard had a terrific loan stay with West Ham United in the second half of the 2020-21 season after spending eleven years with his childhood club, Manchester United.
Despite summer training with the Hammers and a month with Steven Gerrard’s Saudi Pro League side, Al-Ettifaq, he has unable to find a club.
In addition, the midfielder posted an Instagram video of himself executing a number of drills and workouts at training on Thursday night.
Lingard said, “Working baby,” as he appeared to be well-coached by an invisible figure.
After scoring just four minutes into his debut with Al-Ettifaq, a friendly against Al-Khaldiya, he was considered a strong candidate for a contract.
Nonetheless, he did not receive a contract and left the club at the end of the month in October.
Lingard was rumored to be pondering a move to Major League Soccer while in Miami for training in July.
West Ham spent thousands of pounds on Lingard’s trial, including paying for his housing and transportation as he trained with the team, according to Mail Sport in September.
Lingard received a six-month driving suspension earlier this summer after pleading guilty to failing to identify the driver of his car that was caught speeding last year. West Ham allegedly arranged transportation and put him in a hotel for several weeks.
Lingard spent nearly six weeks training with West Ham before his disastrous spell at Al-Ettifaq.
Lingard, who has 32 caps for England and is a favorite of Gareth Southgate, has also played for Leicester City, Birmingham, Brighton, and Derby during his loan spell at Old Trafford. However, he has not played for the Three Lions since 2021.
