Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes vows to accept any fine for his on-field outburst against the Bills, acknowledging his behavior was uncharacteristic and recognizing the officials’ efforts🏈💸

After losing his composure during the Chiefs’ Sunday loss to the Bills, Patrick Mahomes says he will take any consequence that is imposed.

After replays proved Kadarius Toney was in front of the line of scrimmage before the ball was kicked, Kansas City’s potentially game-winning touchdown against Buffalo was called back for an offensive offside, which infuriated Mahomes more than anything else.

With just over a minute remaining, Toney’s touchdown would have put the hosts ahead 23–20, but as Buffalo hung on for the win and the score was wiped out, Mahomes’ red mist enveloped him.

Two days after the game, though, Mahomes acknowledges that his actions were inappropriate and that he is now ready to deal with the “consequences.”

But the reigning NFL MVP admits his behavior towards the officials was out of line on the night

When a late offside penalty kept Kansas City from scoring a game-winning score, Mahomes became enraged.

Because Karadius Toney (circled) was in an offside position, the officials called back the touchdown.

“Honestly, I don’t know,” he said to 610 Sports when asked if he anticipates paying a fine. I am aware that generally speaking negatively about referees or making disparaging remarks about them is not a good idea. Their work is challenging, and they are making every effort.

“Everything that occurs happens.” I’ve always believed that you have to accept the consequences of your actions.

“I have to accept the consequences if they arise because I didn’t act in the way I usually do.”

Mahomes was widely criticized on Monday. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith said the NFL MVP ’embarrassed himself,’ while FOX Sports’ Skip Bayless called his outburst “spoiled brat behavior.”

“Man, I care.” I adore both my teammates and this game. Mahomes continued, “I want to go out there and give it everything I’ve got to win.”

I definitely regret acting that way because I can’t do that, I can’t be that way about officials or basically anybody in life. More than anything, though, I felt bad about how I treated Josh following the game—since he was unrelated to it.

“It was a difficult defeat, but in this league, you have to move on.” In order to improve from our blunders in the game, I watched the movie. If you want to get back on track in this league, you have to keep going.

Following the call, Mahomes smashed his helmet down and needed teammates to restrain him.

However, the current NFL MVP acknowledges that his actions that evening toward the officials were inappropriate.

It’s a necessary component of the game. You strive to grow yourself and as a player by taking what you can from it. Something I’ll take to heart in my professional life and strive to improve upon should the need arise.

Mahomes responded, “No, not really. It was a big play in the game and obviously got negated because of a foul,” when asked if he was surprised by how agitated he became. I couldn’t really explain anything, other than the fact that I’m definitely not seeing the sideline.

It’s something you don’t often see called in the NFL, but if he didn’t check and it weren’t good, then it is a foul. I’ve seen it again. However, that was a foul.

“Learning from your mistakes and trying to be better the next time is part of being a person and part of playing the game.”
