Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has returned to training ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League match at Old Trafford against Bayern Munich.
Casemiro has not participated in a competitive game since being pulled off against Newcastle United in the EFL Cup on November 1.
The Brazilian was making his comeback from an ankle ailment sustained during the international break in October, but he was forced to leave the game before halftime due to a hamstring problem.
As a result, the former Real Madrid man has missed the Red Devils’ last eight games, including Saturday’s 3-0 loss to Bournemouth.
Erik ten Hag, manager of Manchester United, earlier claimed that he did not anticipate the Brazil international to return until the new year.
Casemiro, on the other hand, appears to be making good progress in his recuperation after being photographed in training by the club’s social media channels.
Man United revealed that Casemiro had accelerated his recovery by practicing on grass at the Carrington practicing Complex.
Following Saturday’s loss to the Cherries, the Brazil international worked on an individual program while the rest of his teammates participated in a rehabilitation session.
Although Casemiro’s return to training will be welcomed, it is unlikely that he will be ready for Tuesday’s critical Champions League match.
With only four points from five European games, the Red Devils are presently bottom of the group heading into the final round of fixtures.
With one point separating them from Galatasaray and Copenhagen, Ten Hag’s side must win all three points and hope the group’s other match ends in a draw to advance to the Champions League’s last 16.
Ten Hag will be without Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, and Amad Diallo, and there are questions about Victor Lindelof and Mason Mount’s availability.
While Manchester United is dealing with injury issues, Bayern will be missing Serge Gnabry, who was forced off in Saturday’s 5-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt.
