Makka Salah, Mo Salah’s little daughter, dribbled over the hallowed field, which was now deserted as the sun set on a record-breaking season, and shot into an open net.

The stadium erupted as the ball crept past the line at the renowned Kop End, the kid repeating what her father – a local hero – had done so frequently since moving to Merseyside in 2017.

Salah Snr. stood in front of the dugouts, beaming like a pleased father.
