‘Crazy’: Jurgen Klopp couldn’t believe what extraordinary star did vs Fulham

Liverpool moved up to second in the Premier League rankings after a 4-3 win over Fulham at Anfield on Sunday (3 December).

Jurgen Klopp praised defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, who scored a brace to give the Reds all three points.

The 25-year-old opened the goal with a “unbelievable” free kick, according to Klopp.

At one point, Liverpool was training 3-2. However, two quick goals toward the end, one a volley from Alexander-Arnold, clinched the Reds’ triumph in a nail-biting thriller.

Trent’s growth since joining the senior team has been described as “crazy” by Klopp.

“Trent’s free-kick, unbelievable,” Klopp added.

“I’m not sure I have anything to say about that.” Nobody can deny how highly I regard Trent.

“He’s been here pretty much since I’ve been here – longer, of course, but with the first team pretty much since I’ve been here.” The progression is insane.

“We were aware of his shooting abilities. He scored with a free-kick a while back, I believe, so it wouldn’t be so awful if we could do it better – for that, we need fouls around that area, which we don’t have a lot of. Today, he was a true leader on the pitch – arguably the largest development, if you will.”

Klopp has played a significant contribution

Trent is a natural right-back who contributes to the team in ways other than defense. His defensive abilities have been called into doubt, yet no one can deny his attacking abilities.

He is an excellent passer of the ball and a capable shooter. The England defender can also score from free kicks, and he has two goals this season in the Premier League. The free-kick goal was ruled an own goal, but we all know it had Trent’s expertise written all over it.

Klopp also deserves a lot of credit for helping to shape Trent’s career. By bringing in Joe Gomez, Trent gains the freedom to play in midfield, where he just dominates the game with his long diagonal throws and gets into strong scoring areas.

Could this be the game that gives Liverpool players and fans hope that they can win the league? The fact they rallied from behind to win in dramatic fashion shows that they have rediscovered the monster mindset that was missing last season.
