Real Madrid desperately needs reinforcements in January to compete for titles in La Liga and the Champions League.
Santiago Gimenez
The Mexican striker has been in prolific form throughout the 2023 calendar year with 37 goals to date. Since arriving at Feyenoord, Gimenez has scored 41 goals in 61 matches and caught the eye of some of Europe’s top teams.
According to ESPN, Barcelona is also interested in the 22-year-old player. The likes of Arsenal and Chelsea have also been linked with Gimenez. He has a contract until 2027 with Feyenoord, so the price will not be cheap.
Claudio Echeverri
Echeverri is compared to Lionel Messi and teams like Real Madrid, PSG and Man City are all interested in the young Argentine player. The River Plate star has attracted everyone’s attention with his brilliant performance for Argentina at the ongoing U17 World Cup in Indonesia.
Takefusa Kubo
Real Madrid recruited Kubo from FC Tokyo in 2019, but the winger did not have a chance to play. He leaves the Bernabeu in 2022 and will probably return here in 2024.
Although he could not shine in Madrid, the Japanese international has made a strong impression at Real Sociedad recently. This 22-year-old player contributed to 7 goals in La Liga this season, only behind Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo in the Madrid squad.
Youssoufa Moukoko
Real Madrid are still looking for a new ‘number 9’ after the departure of Karim Benzema in the summer of 2023. Joselu has done well to fill the void, but Madrid will be looking for a long-term solution.
Moukoko appeared in the sights of the White Vulture. The 19-year-old was once highly rated, but is disappointed that he hasn’t played much at Borussia Dortmund, with only 144 minutes on the field in the Bundesliga this season and has a reason to leave in January. According to El Nacional, Real can buy Moukoko for only 30 million euros.
Rayan Cherki
Real Madrid have been interested in Cherki for some time now and January could be the perfect time for them to make their move. Cherki’s contract with Lyon expires in 2025 and reports from Spain suggest he could leave in January.
This season, Cherki and Lyon both lost form. But last season, he stood out, contributing to 10 goals for the home team and is considered one of the most promising talents in France.
Arnau Martinez
Madrid could weaken their direct competitor for the La Liga title if they reach an agreement with Girona’s Martinez. The 20-year-old has received plenty of praise since his breakthrough last season.
According to 90min, Real Madrid are among the clubs interested in Martinez, along with Barcelona, Man City and Liverpool. Martinez can play at right-back or centre-back and would be a good option for Ancelotti’s side.
