Losing to Galatasaray at home was always going to be difficult, but when you follow that up with a loss to Copenhagen, you’re making it exponentially more difficult for yourself. Nothing less than three points against a quality Galatasaray team will suffice here.

Erik ten Hag returns to the dugout, which is a welcome boost, and morale will be high after the devastation of Everton on Sunday. However, the Reds will have to do so without Marcus Rashford, who is suspended.

Anyway, enough chit-chat; let’s get right to it with a comprehensive breakdown of our starting lineup for this one.

Andre Onana has recently been lot more assured. On Saturday, the Cameroonian was crucial against Everton, and he will be pleased.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka likely return to the starting lineup after appearing on the bench over the weekend. Diogo Dalot will return to the left-back position, giving Luke Shaw a break as he works his way back to full fitness after an injury. Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have emerged as the most dependable defensive pairing right now. They will go on.

In midfield, the Reds appear to be lacking. Scott McTominay has been playing well over the last few months and deserves to play. Kobbie Mainoo was fantastic in his complete debut, so he should start, however I’m concerned about putting him in that hostile Turkish environment. The midfield will be completed by Bruno Fernandes. He will lead the team.

Anthony Martial performed far too well to be dropped, and Ten Hag’s decision was made simpler by Rasmus Hojlund’s recent injury. Antony is yet another injury casualty, thus we should see Facundo Pellistri from the start. Alejandro Garnacho rounds out the starting lineup.
